Privacy Policy | 私隱政策

Preamble

This is a personal website created and hosted just for fun. I do not use this website to make money. I am a busy university student who has many responsibilities, and I frankly do not have time to worry about complying with privacy laws.

Therefore, I hope you can believe that even if I am collecting a bit more information than what is listed here, or handling data in a slightly questionable manner, it is an oversight, not a blatant invasion of privacy, and you will get a very sincere apology and immediate rectification if you tell me your concern by sending me an email.

I used to use Google Analytics and Jetpack to collect user analytics before realizing the collected data is useless because the number of visitors is very low, and the use of both are now removed.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://iatfei.com. This website is operated by Fei Kuan. Contact email address can be found at https://iatfei.com/about.html.

Security and Analytics

We collect the following data for the purposes of security and analytics: IP address, User Agent string, Referral string. Full IP addresses are logged for security purposes, while the last octet is removed when it is used for analytics purposes so that it cannot be traced back to individual users.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

When you make a comment, you have the option to choose whether to use Gravatar. If you choose to use it, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) will be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Gravatar images are cached by the hosting server so no requests are sent to Gravatar from the client.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

You have the option to not accept external contents and no content from other websites will be loaded. We also try our best to provide direct links to external contents so that you can visit them with more privacy measures in place, for example through private mode.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
